Tip: When I walk, I decide how much time I have, divide it by 2 and walk away from my house that long. This is better than doing "loops" or going back and forth past your house, because the lure of the comfy couch will call to you each time you walk past your house!
I have been spending a lot of time out in nature these last several days before and after work. It is so refreshing to walk along the creek, walk through the neighborhood, sit among the trees, without judging or labeling, after a busy day of work. Letting the thoughts float out of me in small bubbles of light, just observing them as they float away - to really get into, and feel the present moment. Even if you do not feel like it, try to get out for even a 5 or 10 minute walk first thing in the morning, during your lunch break, when you get home from your activities or even later, after dinner: Pay attention as you take each footstep. Notice how your muscles move as you lift your foot with your leg and take each step. Feel the breeze, coolness or warmth on your skin. You can do this - just 5 or 10 minutes! You will feel so refreshed after this exercise. It will get you out of your thoughts and unconscious mind patterns, and allow you to feel part of everything - leaving you more energy and focus than before! We are all a part of nature - really try to feel that with this exercise. As thoughts about what happened, what you need to do, or what you think you should be doing instead of walking, come into your head - try to observe them without judgement. Just notice that the thoughts are there - remind yourself that those thoughts will be there after your 5 or 10 minute walk!
